The dryer's transition hose can be an important factor in saving energy. It can also be a critical factor in protecting property and even lives. Why? Dryer-caused home fires have been documented at levels exceeding 14,000 a year. Flammable lint accumulates quickly in every exhaust system (even when the lint filter is cleaned with every load). This can create a very real fire danger.

Constructed with all aluminum ribbon, DryerFlex fire-rated duct is as flexible as "slinky" foil flex yet stronger than semi-rigid aluminum, making installation easier and every laundry room safer. Quite simply, DryerFlex provides the best functionality of the old transition ducts without any of the defects. DryerFlex always maintains its four-inch diameter whether fully extended or compressed. This smooth interior allows the dryer to perform at peak efficiency. Its strong aluminum ribbon protects against crushing and flame spread. Choose DryerFlex for an exhaust duct that's safe, efficient, and easy to install

  • UL Listed and Code and Manufacturer Approved - Building code and appliance manufacturers require a UL2158A listing.  DryerFlex is UL2158A Listed

DryerFlex® models DFLX4 and DFLX8 are building code and manufacturer-approved 4” round transition ducts and are designed for superior performance in connecting the dryer’s exhaust port to a home’s in-wall dryer exhaust system. Building code and manufacturer adoption of DryerFlex as a superior solution is based on compliance with IMC 504.4 and IRC 1502.3 as well as a UL 2158A listing.

For safety reasons and added peace of mind, only UL2158A listed ducting, like DryerFlex, should be used to connect the dryer's exhaust system (non-listed hose such as that commonly used to vent bathroom fans should never be used). While building code and dryer manufacturers all require a UL 2158A listed transition duct, there are differences upon further testing. It is very common to find listed material that is fairly safe but does develop smoke and flame spread at lower temperatures. DryerFlex is the only flexible duct that has zero flame spread and zero smoke development meaning it withstands fire exposure up to 482° with zero development of smoke or fire.

DryerFlex gets its flexibility, strength, and fire-resistant capabilities with 5 layers of 25 microns 100% aluminum ribbon, attached over galvanized zinc-coated wire. The application method for the aluminum ribbon ensures a consistent 4” inner diameter whether it is fully extended or fully compressed. For fire resistance performance, DryerFlex was lab-tested to 662 degrees Fahrenheit without flame or smoke development. The heavy application of aluminum ribbon combined with the resilient strength of galvanized zinc-coated wire helps it bounce back from heavy object impacts and makes it highly puncture resistant. The ribbon is tightly wound with a maximum material thickness between wire coils of .005" so the interior is smoother which reduces airflow resistance.

Important Safety Tip - Flexible white vinyl bathroom exhaust vent hose should never be used to connect a dryer. It is highly flammable, deteriorates over time from the heat, and crushes easily.
